I am very happy with FXSound and really appreciate the difference it makes .. BUT … no matter how many times I mute my speakers, FXSound turns them back on. I mute when I want quiet, when I am on the phone, when I am having conversations, when I go to bed! However, suddenly I will get a notification or an email on the PC and FXSound has turned mute off again, and I hear the DING all over the house. Is there a solution for this?
After muting system sound, if the output device in FxSound changes, system sound may get unmuted by FxSound.
Can you tell us the scenario in which you are observing the unmute?
We can look into the fixing the unexpected unmutes.
Hi bvijay,
Thank you so much for replying so quickly; it is much appreciated. No changes to the audio device are being made. Everything is left alone, and within a few minutes the mute is cancelled. I have checked to make sure that FXSound is the selected output in Windows Sound settings and it is. What I have found since I posted is that if I set the output to 1 quite fiddlly to achieve actually, lol) it remains unchanged, even now, hours later, but if I set it to Zero it will be unmuted and set to around 10 or so - more than enough to create a disturbance when quiet is required. I am using Windows 11, and my FXSound is the current, up to date version. I still think that it is a wonderful piece of software, but this issue is disappointing.
Hi @peter_oz
Thank you for your appreciation and support to FxSound.
Ideally, even if audio is completely muted by user in system settings, it should not get unmuted by FxSound.
Do you observe FxSound unmuting with any specific audio device. Can you try built in speaker, external speaker and Bluetooth headphones if possible and identify if the unmute happens with any particular audio device?
