Without the crash dump, there is very little that we can do to fix the crash.

Received popup notice on my laptop that new FXSound update was ready to install. I installed it and went to bed. Next morning Windows screen notified me that my laptop had crashed and that it wanted to perform a System Restore (to the night before) specifically labeled “FXSound installation.” This Restore Point had evidently been set automatically by Windows itself (fortunately). The System Restore did what it was supposed to and I am up and running. Although my mahcine is fully backed up, nevertheless this has scared me off FXSound, especially since, after reading all of the submissions, no one seems to have a handle on what is wrong. Good as FXSound is, there are plenty of other options that do not require me to play Russian Roulette with my system.

Is this the first and only time this has happened?
And did you check the related crash dumps and logs in the event viewer, to verify that the crash was indeed caused by the update to FxSound, or only named that way?
