Is it at all possible to setup FxSound in such a way that, whenever I hit the hotkey that switches between two output audio devices, FxSound itself switches to a specified preset for each? Otherwise, could I make a request to have it implemented as a feature in an upcoming update? I would be willing to pay for something like that. Thanks in advance. I am currently using both a stereo headphone set, as well as a 2.1 sound system.

Ah, Starchild - this is hardly an original suggestion:
The idea here being that if you could say set your Playback device to headphones and preset to Music when running Spotify for example. And as you started playing music on Spotify FxSound would automatically swap the playback device and preset to match what you’ve set for the Spotify app.

So far, upwards of 13 forum users have voiced similar and/or concurrent requests.
It's worth noting that there will be known conflicts between such an "Auto-Switch" option and the already-existing "Automatically switch to newly connected output device" option located under the General tab of the Settings menu, as well as with the future addition of a "Preferred/Priority Device" option, another extremely popular feature request launched by @NullDev:

However, after some internal discussion about which path to take, FxSound was recently updated with a Preferred Output Device function:
So first of all I have to say again: Thank you for this amazing software!
I want to propose a feature or rather an option though:
When my PC locks after inactivity, FxSound automatically switches to the built-in device (UXGA-100-C (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)) instead of keeping my bluetooth headphones active.
Which is why a “Preferred device” option would be amazing. e.g.: “Use this device whenever available”.
The only issue I can see with this is that the option “switch to newly connecte…

This feature was initially proposed by @NullDev; since then, at least 6 other us… ers have voiced similar and/or concurrent requests:

Such an option could allow ranking and/or disabling of audio devices: for example, by saving a list of previously connected devices in the UI, with adjustable ranking positions through dragging and/or buttons, as well as an x/close or trash-can button for disconnected or preferably undetected devices.
The device ranked first, would be categorized as, "Always change Output Device to this device when connected."
It's worth noting that there will be known conflicts between such a "Preferred/Priority Device" option, and the already-existing "Automatically switch to newly connected output device" option located under the General tab of the Settings menu, as well as with the introduction of another popular feature to automatically switch Presets and Playback Devices, initially proposed by @jamesarcher9000 (see https://github.com/fxsound2/fxsound-app/issues/9 ).
In the latest release v1.1.26.0 a new feature to select preferred output device has been added.

The preferred output device can be selected from FxSound settings. It can also be selected by passing the device name through command line option --output. For example
FxSound.exe --output="<speaker name>"
The preferred device feature functions as follows,
If preferred device is selected and it is connected during FxSound launch, then audio playback will be through the preferred device.

Thanks for a quick reply. Should I delete this thread?

No problem.
No need. Your feature request is still valid, and worth taking note of.

I think this suggestion is great! Some people might have specific uses for each playback device. For those with the opposite need, adding a setting button to choose whether presets follow the playback device changes would be beneficial.
