Hey! As mentioned in the title, yesterday, my power went out, or surged (?) for a moment, and my PC turned off. Thought nothing of it. When I turned my PC back on, all my audio sounded all distorted, like someone put it through a funny demon filter. ONLY in FxSound, though, not default sound. I’m really unsure of what to do at this point, because I’ve:
- Checked my HDD for corrupted files via an SFC scan
- Uninstalled and Reinstalled both FxSound and it’s drivers around 10 times now
- Restarted my PC (Goes without saying)
- Waited a day (Fixed my problems last time)
- Updated from 1.1.20.0 to 1.1.28.0
- Tried various different combinations of Uninstall FxSound-Restart-Uninstall drivers-Restart again
- Tried the Windows Store version, issue persisted there too
- Deleted my headset’s audio devices and restarted
- For the hell of it, ran a BitDefender scan, no results
- Changed the USB port my headset was connected to
- Ran fxdiag.exe, nothing out of the ordinary
- [Edit] Not an attempt, but something to note: OBS doesn’t catch the warbling. More proof that it’s something in between FxSound and my Output? I made sure that the OBS input was FxSound, so…
I’m close to just going to find a new EQ, but I really like FxSound, so I’d prefer to at least ask here before giving up. I’m assuming it’s not FxSound itself, but something in between FxSound and the Output. Thing is, I don’t have any other sound modifiers, so I’m stumped. Any ideas?
[Edit] I managed to find the headphone jack after opening up my PC tower, and the EQ works FINE. I might freak out? I’m not at all sure why my USB headset wire extender doesn’t like FxSound specifically… but I’ve got something, now. Uh… I guess I’ll mark this as solved…? Not sure what to do about my cables, though…
[Edit again] Yeah, no, my motherboard’s USB ports seem to just not like audio anymore. Bummer. Managed to get myself back on track, though. Still unsure why it only affected FxSound, though. I suppose that’s something on its own.
