AdvinstAnalytics Folder

I just want to ask if the AdvinstAnalytics folder is related to FxSound, considering that there are versions of FxSound inside the AdvinstAnalytics folder and the timestamp of the AdvinstAnalytics folder matches the installation time of FxSound? The folder’s location can be seen in the attached image.

I’m worried because a web search for “AdvinstAnalytics” shows a connection to malware. FYI, the scanning results from Kaspersky and Windows Defender on Windows 10 Pro (22H2 19045.3155) show no signs of viruses, malware, and the like.

Hi,
I can assure you that normally, FxSound never installs malware.
Did you download the software from fxsound.com or the Microsoft Store?
You can run the file through virustotal.com, or give the free version of MalwareBytes a go.
Here’s a thread on Reddit on the same topic:
Reddit - Dive into anything
Let me know if this answers your question or not.

This is a standard feature of the installer environment you are using. Downloaded from the official site. There are these folders. On the images, data about the elements of the installer and the analytical part. This type of analytics was not found in the installed program.

I’m not sure (I need to reinstall the program to check) if the installer sends data after installation, but when I run it, there is no prompt to send data. You can turn off the Internet during the installation if you are worried about transferring data to the installer developer.

Thank you, @Dolmatov.
I checked my AppData folder, and also found a map called AdvinstAnalytics, containing folders with the names of the last four FxSound versions.
BitDefender reports zero issues with the folder.
Let me ask Vijay about it…
Hi @bvijay,
@SuperCuek posed an interesting question about a folder in AppData/Local called AdvinstAnalytics, see opening post.
I was wondering if you could provide some clarification?
Thanks.

We added installer analytics feature in our installer to track the installation, uninstallation trends and installation errors from the portal Installer Analytics
But at present we have not subscribed to the Installer Analytics service. So, in the next version we can also stop the capturing of the installer analytics data from the installer.

@SuperCuek’s concern was understandable; when I did a search, most results did link to questions about the presence of malware…
