I preferred the earlier versions and the new versions seem to cause system sound problems occasionally. Can I still download my earlier paid-for version, please? Great sound even on dull and moderate-quality speakers!

The old versions are still available as free downloads on https://www.fxsound.com/
(Way down below on the page, under “Products”)
[EDIT: Not true, both old versions are locked and require a licence key, and since support for the old versions has ended, there is no longer a way to get one.]
But they fail. it need an definitive update.
