It might just be me but I saw that there was a new version so went and downloaded it on March 4th. Ever since then I have had to reinstall it on a daily basis otherwise I don’t get my enhanced audio volume or custom preset. It’s not a big deal but it makes me wonder if anybody else is experiencing this? I’ll check the latest forums to see if there’s anything close to what I’ve experienced.
not sure what issue you are experiencing here, but go ahead and download the latest version from GitHub - fxsound2/fxsound-app: FxSound application and DSP source code · GitHub (download the “Installer”) since the main website appears to be under reconstruction of some kind.
Easy setup is to tick the box “automatic update” in fxsounds setting, regarding your preset it shouldn’t “disappear” on its own but export your own preference and put it in a safe folder as a backup later, simply import it when something happened. (you can make another copy and save it in some cloud as well like dropbox, google drive if you want extra caution)
lastly, sometimes thing will work when you turn it off and on. Try exit fxsound, maybe re-pairing the headphones, maybe restart your computer, or even reset the app* or you can even run the fxsound installer again as well* (*it will reset all presets) but you’re fine presets aren’t meant forever, tastes change
Hi Coreywillei.
Thank you for your reply. You had some excellent troubleshooting information. I have already done all that you suggested and I still have the annoying issue. It’s not a major problem and I’ll keep reinstalling as needed but to me, it’s a weird issue and I’m not pointing blame at FXsound because I don’t believe it’s their app. Possibly my unique system parameters. It could even be related to the latest Microsoft Update. I recently left the Windows Beta program and am restored to the latest 25H2 level but there could be some “leftovers” of the beta insiders version still inside.
I love a challenge! When I’ve tweaked it enough and still have the issue I’ll just wipe my system and reinstall Windows 11 again. That’s not a problem doing that.
I’m running your app version 1.2.6.0
And Windows 11 Home with all the latest updates for security & features.
No problem! I’m honestly not the technical all-knowing, my approach is usually focusing on simplicity like “the remote didn’t work? try tapping it or flipping the batteries and see”, and sometimes all they need is just a little tap lol. I hope the issue work out for ya cuz I am not quite grasping what your situation really is[1].
If you’re interested in knowing what’d I do differently in your shoes, I’d take it from the top before down to the root because I think reinstalling your system platform is a bit overkill. I would say it’s safe to mess with the front end first, media player isn’t doing the sound effects? I’d check the media first to make sure something like youtube’s ambient or stable sound mode isn’t on, then if not i’d try another player, then test another browser, check firefox (my browser) new updates and bugs (trust me the big front end applications you’re using usually packing a lot more bugs because they’re ever-growing for new stuffs). Hope that makes sense, but Fxsounds plays a lower role in your system (low actually means higher rank though!) and messing with the machine’s back end with little clue will probably get you a new PC ![]()
Sorry for the long reply, hope that makes sense, you can see my pov a bit differently as: If a tree seems sick, I’d try to find and trim the dead branch first before I’ll rip it off the ground and plant it in different soil where I think or I hear that it’s good. I betcha the tree can only last a few times if it keeps being pulled off.
(for example I can’t read any font smaller than size 13 but that isn’t someone’s issue at all, so I’m just giving you my two cents that you could try elaborating any issues a bit more specific since “weird” and “unusual” can only say you’re having an issue, but that isn’t gonna be the same from our own perspective) ↩︎
