Problems after last update

After this last update, my PC sound will stop working completely. I have followed every single trouble shooting suggestion. Nothing will restore the sound except to reboot. FX Sound was working perfectly previous to the update. I have to restart the PC 2 or 3 times a day!

The recent version only had UI related changes and there is no done in the app which can affect audio. Can you please provide the details of the version you have installed and your OS version?

Can you try reinstalling and rebooting your PC?

The statement I made about the failure occurring after the update is factual. Whether or not the update contributed to the issue is not for me to say.
I have never had a problem with FX Sound previously.
The problem is intermittent. It stopped working twice yesterday and once day before.
Each failure occurred viewing YouTube videos that had been paused for several minutes and no sound upon resume.
All sound settings were checked, different browsers tried, music files were tried, no sound at all.
I turned off FX Sound and enabled the onboard sound and there was no sound
I reset FX Sound as default and there was no sound
I checked and re-checked the speaker cables.
Only a PC reboot would restore the sound.
So far today it has not failed
I have version Version 12.3.0 on Windows 10 Pro

I have not reinstalled FX Pro as it is working today. If I have further problems, I will reinstall it.

Not 30 minutes after I posted the above reply, the sound stopped again. I reinstalling FX Sound, rebooted the PC and it is working at present. Please advise.

I will try to replicate the problem with YouTube video playback and pause as you have described. I will get back in a couple of days.

UPDATE: At 12:32 CDT, sound stopped in the midst of a playing YouTube video. This is the first time it has done that. I uninstalled FX Sound and will monitor my PC performance for a day or two and see if the sound fails again. I will post any related event.

I will state that the default sound is total crap compared to FX Sound!

UPDATE: 1215pm 12_05_2025 I uninstalled FX Sound 24 hours ago. I have had no issues with the sound since. The sound on my PC is working perfectly for the past 24 hours with FX uninstalled.

I have put a number of YouTube videos on pause for an extended length of time and no issues.

I really like Fx Sound and I would like to have it back in an older version.

Is it possible to get an older version of FX Sound? And to turn off automatic updates if I can get an older version?

I had no problems with it and I cannot stand the default sound from my PC.

Hi @Perz
You can download older versions from here:

Thank you! Actually, I found VideoHelp yesterday afternoon and downloaded and installed version 1.1.33.0. I tested it for about 6 hours yesterday and 3 hours this morning and it has worked perfectly! Not one single issue and I love the sound.

Again, thank you!

So, just to confirm, you downloaded a previous version and now the app works just as before the latest “update”? I had the same low volume problem with the “update” as others did and ultimately uninstalled it altogether. It was by far the best free audio enhancement app prior to that.

My issue was that the sound would completely stop. Not low volume, no sound at all. It was first noticed when I paused a YouTube video and unpaused it to find no volume. I agree that FxSound is the best enhancement app by far. I completely uninstalled the update, downloaded 1.1.33.0 from VideoHelp and it now works perfectly. I have been testing it now for over 24 hours and not one single problem with the old version!

Ahh, so, your issue was different then. It’s good to know which version at video help you downloaded. I’m browsing other forums to see who had the same problem I had and which previous version they went back to. I wish I could find a way of knowing which version I had before I updated, but, since the update button didn’t actually work for a year before it finally did a month or so ago, I have no idea. But, whatever I had installed before the “update” finally worked, it was perfect. I might just pick one from 3 years ago just to be safe.

You are NOT going to believe this! I had no more finished typing the reply above when the sound turned off! The only way to get it back is to restart the PC!

I always reboot anyway after installing updates.

I shutdown my PC every day

Really? I’ve had mine for 5 years. I assume it was a 2020 model when it was purchased, but, regardless, I could probably use a device upgrade. It’s as-if mine needs to “warm up” after I wake it from Sleep mode. I haven’t the patience to endure that from Start-up mode every time I want to use it.

I’m curious how you use Fx Sound on your PC, though. I use it primarily for music, be it, Apple, iTunes, Spotify or YouTube. As well as streaming non-music audio. I prefer a massive amount of echo and reverb along with the Bass Boost, and have been spoiled by this app and absolutely refuse to revert to this PC’s original audio settings that don’t offer such enhancement features.

Also, what browser do you use? I prefer Chrome and am just now finding a list of audio apps in that store. I’m reading the reviews from about a half-dozen I’ve saved and eliminating anything that mentions free trial or the kind of fatal flaw I experienced with the latest Fx Sound update.

What’re you primarily using your PC and the app for?
