part of the problem is that it will not let me select any other device except Fx, to which there are no speakers for that. it set itself as the default and will not let me change speakers at all. very strange to me.
i have reinstalled 3 times already. the second time was after using CCleaner to uninstall Fx completely. and all the volume settings have been checked too many times to count really. so, while fx is still installed, i’m a bit too burned out to keep messing with it. think i will give it a rest for a week or two and then get back to it with a fresh start. i found a work around that will do till then. thanks.
OK, so, unable to fix this I went into Windows> Device Manager> Audio inputs and outputs> Speakers (FX Sound Audio Enhancer)> Properties> Driver tab, and clicked Update driver. I chose “Search automatically for drivers “ option and let it do the job. Once done I rebooted and FX worked as normal. Problem solved for me, might not work for everyone. This was on win 10 with all updates.
thanks. i’m running Win 11 with all updates (like i have a choice). i’ll try doing the driver update from Win instead of Fx and see how that works. thanks.
