Reduce EQ range by more than -12?

Hello, I’m on a new device and I’m trying to get my audio to sound like it did on my previous computer. I don’t care for bass very much, but unfortunately it seems that my headphones (HyperX Cloud Core) way over-emphasize the lower frequencies for my taste.

I have bass boost at 0 and my two lowest frequency bands at -12 and -11, but there’s still far too much background boominess for my taste. Is there any way to reduce it further? If it’s not possible with FxSound, is there any additional software I could use to do that? Previously I used Equalizer APO w/ Peace to do similar EQ but that doesn’t seem to be working for me on Windows 11.

Hi Grendal,
This isn’t technically a question about FxSound, but I’ll indulge.
The free Windows, VLC and WinAmp Media Players all have built-in EQ’s, there are links to free EQ extensions for Chrome and FireFox at the end of my troubleshooting list, as well as to the Neutron Media Player, which is a paid option.
I have some hot french fries which need eating or will otherwise get cold, but I will give you a chance to reply, and get back to you after dinner.

Thanks, I guess I’ll have to try something else if I can’t force FxSound to reduce it more somehow. I was hoping I could just stick with it, as it’s pretty good software otherwise. I’d want something that affects all my audio like FxSound, not just one program at a time w/ extensions and media players.

This is a link to the product’s full review on Rtings.com, which includes professional measurements.
I would say that there’s probably not as much excess bass as you think.

I understand that, but the world isn’t an open candy store where you can always have whatever you want, whenever you want it.
Sometimes, you need to make do with what you have.

That being said, I’m sure there are other options out there that I haven’t heard of.
It might be worthwhile to browse Reddit, or some other audio forums, and look around.

Interesting, I guess it’s just me/personal preference then?

Fair enough, thanks again for replying!

I edited my above post to include the proper links.
Also, I just remembered, there’s a Windows Enhancement present for some devices which gives you options to reduce the bass response, called Low Frequency Protection.
