Hello everyone, for some time now, I have been experiencing an issue where FX Sound no longer connects to the default device upon startup and does not select the Windows default device, but rather a different device. I have to repeatedly assign the correct playback device to FX Sound after startup. I have attempted to change the default device and reset it, and I have also reinstalled FX Sound multiple times without any change. I don’t know what else to do. Unfortunately, there is no longer any official support, so I am posting my problem here in the forum and hope that someone can help me.
The author of the software attends this forum. There is no higher form of support.
You may be describing a problem with file rights to the config file. A Windows error. Mine is stored in the default location.
“C:\Users\Antman\AppData\Roaming\FxSound\FxSound.settings”
If my assumption is correct, then any and all changes you make to settings are lost on restart. If this is not true, disregard this paragraph. Else, recommend uninstall, boot, re-install. There are no default settings which would result in the reported problem and this should correct the issue. I do not recommend a registry edit.
You may not be using the most current version which contains is a setting that affects this selection. Try changing this.
Update to current version.
RIGHT CLICK FXSOUND ICON IN SYSTEM TRAY/NOTIFICATION AREA.
Choose SETTINGS.
Modify “Preferred Output” selection
“Newly connected device” may not have the effect you expect.
EDIT: I think 'None" means ‘last used device’. I could be wrong.
