No longer able to save presets

Is there a reason I am suddenly unable to save any presets? I’ve done so prior and today I noticed the option was blacked out.

Hmm… I think we got rid of the preset max right @bvijay?

Yes, by default the max presets allowed is 20.
It can be increased by changing the value
<VALUE name="max_user_presets" val="20"/>
in the settings file located at %APPDATA%\FxSound\FxSound.settings

Great, ty. I will check that out.

Well, wait. A picture my help. I don’t even have ability to delete presets. It’s all grayed out up to Export and Import.

Looks like you got rid of presets from my end

Hi Chrissie,
Have you already tried restarting your computer, and then exiting and restarting FxSound, either via the tray icon, or by disabling and re-enabling the FxSound Speakers device in Windows Sound?
You could also use the Start Menu shortcut to restart, or run the FxSound.exe found in the folder:
C: \ Program Files \ FxSound LLC \ FxSound
Also, could you please share your version number, and verify you are running the latest version, v1.1.27.0?

No, I haven’t. But I will do that now. Thank you.

No luck. Presets are all grayed out. It’s making my work very complicated because I transcribe many different projects and go back and forth sometimes from one to the other. Right now I had to take a photo of how I have the settings on one project because it took me major time to finagle it to be clear enough to work (It’s a 1983 recording).

Version is V 1.1.16.0

In that case, try visiting fxsound.com, and click “Download for Windows” for v1.1.27.0.
Then run the installer .exe to update.
And post back with your results.
(This is also tip 01 of the main troubleshooting list, by the way.)

Also, delete preset option is only available for user created custom presets. If you select a preset which is bundled with the application, for example presets like General, Movies, TV etc., then it cannot be deleted.
Also to save a preset, make any changes in the equalizer or effects. Without any changes, save preset option will not be enabled.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to research.

And I did make changes, that was my point.

Has your entire Preset drop-down selection menu become empty, or are the Preset options only greyed out?
You can check if your Presets are still there in the folders specified below.
Note that the second folder is a hidden one, so to access it, you might need to unhide it first.
You can do so by clicking,
Tools > Folder Options > View
in the menu bar on top, and enabling the option,
“Show hidden files, folders, and drives.”

The factory-loaded Presets are saved in the folder:
C: > Program Files > FxSound LLC > FxSound > Factsoft

The Bonus and custom Presets are saved in the (hidden) folder:
C: > [user account] > AppData > Roaming > FxSound > Presets

Simply grayed out.
I’ll be okay and deal with it.
I didn’t have any presets. I was only just now trying to create one for this specific job I’m working.
I appreciate you trying to help though.

The user may be reporting a read-only attribute on the presets folder or its path. Not an FxSound issue. Or the path is otherwise corrupt. I do not think an in-place upgrade would correct that problem; the path would remain.

I recommend search local storage for presets and save all presets found in a new path. Uninstall, boot, install current version. Import presets if required.
