In my list of devices, I see one device twice, but with a slightly different name. This second device is not working when selected.
Working device identifies as: Teufel 2.1 (USB Audio Device)
Ghost device identifies as: Teufel 2.1 (2- USB Audio Device)
I cannot find any references to the “2-” device anywhere on my system. It is neither showing up in the Device Manager nor in any other application handling audio, e.g., VLC. Only the “non 2-” device is, as expected.
I did tinker around a bit on the weekend and solved the issue. In the settings of FX Sound, the “2- device” was set as my default device. Selecting another available device as the default and restarting FX Sound made the “2-” device disappear.
Thing is, I have no idea how it ended up there since there never was a “2-” version of this audio device. I can only assume that this may have something to do with me using a laptop with a dock, and maybe when dis-/reconnecting the laptop the device did not correctly disconnect once, so there were two “versions” of it, and then this became the ghost device!?!?
