Fxsound stops working after reactivating windows

The program works perfect, I have Windows 11, and for some reason when I stop using my computer for several hours (I never turn it off) it goes into suspension, when resuming Windows the program stops working and I have to change the audio output again

The issue with sleep mode is well-known and has been posted several times on the forum.
A recent update attempted to address the problem, so can I first ask you which version of FxSound you are running?
You can find the version number in the Settings menu, under Help.
The latest version released is 1.1.19.0, available for download on fxsound.com.

Speaker Output Changes to FX on wakeup with no sound

When my computer wakes up from sleep, my audio device’s speakers is set for the FX program, but I have no sound. I need to choose my speakers over the “FXSOUND” setting every time I wake back up to hear my sound again. Is this a bug that can be addressed or fixed?

So far, no permanent fix has been found, but four actions could be proposed:

• Disable all unnecessary devices, including hidden ones;
• Disable automatic switching;
• Change the Power settings to make the computer stay awake longer;
• This workaround suggested by user @metanoiance.

From FxSound Settings → General, uncheck the option

This will make output switch based on user preference and across sleep/wakeup cycles the user selected output will remain unchanged.

I wanted to share a simple workaround. Keep in mind that I am not a programmer and this is just a simple batch code I came up with.

Using Notepad I made a text file with the following lines and saved it as .bat.

taskkill /f /im FxSound.exe
cd C:\Program Files\FxSound LLC\FxSound
start /min FxSound.exe

Then I used the default Windows Task Scheduler to run the file on wake-up. Meaning everytime the PC wakes up from sleep or hibernation the FxSound.exe will be restarted. Note that the 2nd line in the .bat file can differ for you depending on where you installed FxSound.

Not the most elegant or ideal solution, but I hope this helps!

It is possible it switches to an inactive output device like your screen (has no speakers but is listed as an audio device). Happens to me and it is annoying.

Can’t you just disable your screen’s audio in Windows Sound Settings?

I’m using Windows 11 25H2 with the latest fxsound 1.2.5.0, and I frequently encounter the same problem. Normally, I don’t shut down my computer; I just put it to sleep. For the first few sleep cycles, fxsound works after the computer wakes up, but after that, it doesn’t wake up with the computer, and I have to manually restart it to hear the sound. I’ve experienced this many times, even after shutting down/restarting the computer. After a few successful sleep cycles, fxsound disappears at some point, which is very frustrating.

If FxSound stops working after sleep, open its settings and disable automatic output switching so your chosen device stays active. You can also create a small batch file to restart FxSound on wake using Task Scheduler. Additionally, disable audio from inactive devices in Windows Sound Settings to avoid conflicts.
