FxSound dosn't automatically switches to new attached device like it used to in v1.1.26 and later

Hi. Adding to this topic as even though it’s been some time, there’s been no change. Despite @doolhoofd giving us a super fun addition to the discussion with one of Aesop’s fables, the proposed feature did not need to be mutually exclusive with the previous behaviour.

The same as @nandinicd, I use multiple output devices. I like the option to have one be preferred but I am endlessly frustrated by having to manually switch audio devices every time I want to switch to my other devices, because I move around a lot while working and so am usually constantly switching my headphones between my laptop and phone. This seems like a very simple request to make; adding a feature doesn’t need to mean removing another.

Like OP, FxSound has drastically improved my audio experience, so I really wouldn’t like hunting for and then adjusting to another program. Hope this issue can be resolved soon. Thank you.

@bvijay would it be hard to reintroduce the behavior where FxSound automatically switches to newly connected devices? I guess it could conflict with the preferred output device option. So maybe we give users the option for one or the other?

I would really like to see this added. I use a bluetooth speaker and headphones alternating, but I can only select one preferred device, and it ignores the others. I really do not feel like having to manually select my device every single time should be something that is necessary in 2024.

Hi @james,
Given the requests from several users for the automatic switch to newly connected device feature, I will implement it back in coming release. As you say, automatic switch logic will conflict with preferred output device selection. So, I will make either one of these options active at a time.

Well, why not have both options, then users can choose as they wish.

Option 1 - Automatically switch to newly connected devices

Option 2 - Preferred output device : (user selected output device dropdown)

Could list both these in the Settings  .

Yes that’s what’s now included in the latest update!

I only see Option 2 - Preferred Output Deice. You said the other one (automatically switch to newly connected devices) has been removed.

Hello. They have smartly merged both the options. Please download the latest version and analyse it properly.

hi @james , thank you for listening to the FxSound community and incorporating new changes in the latest v1.1.28.0. I would also like to point out a small bug I encountered though. The audio visualizer animation is not as smooth as it use to be post this new update. The animation now stutters a lot(lags a lot) Can you fix this please? @doolhoofd @bvijay

Sorry about that. I’ll try to test this to see if I can replicate the issue later today.

Seems fine for me. It’s very smooth.

@myFxSound do you use fractional scaling ? Because I use my resolution scaling at 150% . Is this lag because of fractional scaling?? @james

I wouldn’t know, as I don’t use that. I just use FxSound as it is.
