[BUG] Playback Device Select chooses the wrong Audio Device on Wake

When a laptop goes into sleep mode mode it changes the Play Device that is selected to the laptop speakers. The laptop is connected via HDMI to a TV. So it should default to that device (Samsung Nvidia High Definition Audio). After I wake the laptop up and the display resumes, the Playback Audio Device should have a callback to the correct Audio Device. It doesn’t switch back. You need to save the audio device, and resume it properly.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Connect Laptop or PC to a TV via HDMI.
  2. Set the Play Device Select for the TV.
  3. Allow your PC to sit until the Display goes into sleep mode.
  4. Wake up the display by moving your mouse or typing on your keyboard.

Expected Behavior:
The Playback Device Select should revert back to the TV.

Actual Behavior:
The Playback Device Select goes to the laptop Speakers and does NOT revert back to the TV. The STATE is not persisted onRESUME.

When the PC sleeps and wakes up, the audio devices may resume in random order. That is, the HDMI device may not be the first to wake up when the PC wakes up. HDMI TV is selected as output device in FxSound and the PC goes to sleep. If the HDMI TV is not ready when the PC wakes up, FxSound may choose another audio output device which is available.

I tried this experiment. I set the HDMI TV as the first preferred audio device in FxSound settings Output Device Preference list, then when the PC sleeps and wakes up, HDMI TV gets selected as the output device again.

This solution can be followed at the moment. I will try to find a solution to retain the selected output device across PC sleep and wake up cycles.
