Hello there,
i have noticed that FXSound starts extremely slow on startup on W11x64 24H2, takes up to 2 minutes.
i have a very fast desktop self-builded PC with win on SSD.
I’m still looking forward for 2 old questions i’ve put here:
color change (red color is annoying)
and fix position on startup.
Are there any plans to build in future Versions?
Thx in advance.
My guess would be that the information you shared about your PC, probably answers that question, although I admit I don’t know that for sure. @bvijay: What are your thoughts on this?
The current UI appearance is built into the code. I made the best argument I could in favor of a more customizable appearance last March. The options are still being investigated.
Sorry to disappoint, not among the top priorities at the moment.
We need to listen to what users want most, and this does not seem that important.
To make it more cleare:
I have a couple of programs running automatically on startup Like Firefox, AIMP (Audio) and Rainlendar/Rainmeter (Desktop skinning), Core temp and a few others. thy all come very quick, FXsound comes last, example audio player is running immediately:
but without sound until FXsound appears.
I recommend you disable every single app that is labeled as high in the task manager (startup ) tab besides antivirus and graphics card restart you pc and let us know. Also scan you entire pc for any unwanted visitors you never know. you can also check those apps with VirusTotal and see what going on in the background.
Re: slow startup, you are not describing a problem with FxSound. You are describing the desktop experience as provided by Wind11. Acquire the freeware app AUTORUNS by Sysinternals/MS. This tool allows you to manage startup/autorun apps robustly.
You must understand that the startup process is actually multiple startups. HAL, machine, user all require startup. Where the call is initiated from affects the time required to complete the action. You are calling FxSound as a user.
The two minutes means - waiting more or less always means - a hardware resource(s) is not found.
Remember window position is an OS function. Poorly implemented in honor of Windows 3.0.
Method 1: Resize the window, then double-click the icon in the upper left corner of the window. This should cause Windows to remember the size and position of the window.
Method 2: Resize the window, then press the Ctrl + Alt + Z hotkey to save the window’s size. You need AutoSizer for this method.
Method 3: Use WinSize2 to set preset sizes and positions for different software windows
Thanks for hints.
i know Autoruns and Sysinternals.
I found some errors and deleted them.
Only really necessary Apps are allowed to run.
further Madsonic server, uTorrent webclient.
Madsonic starts also very late but less important, thats Audio management with web interface.
I guess i found the error:
it’s the extremly annoying Nvidia Driver who causes crashes frequently since the last 4 or 5 updates.
Only Driver installed, not any Nvidia crap.
WinSize2move and AutoSizer are both very outdated apps not build for win11.
interesting is DesktopOK…should work…will see.
My Desktop is skinned and free of any stupid Icon, so i wanted to make FXSound as a part of my desktop because it has a cool interface.
Everything has fixed posistion on startup and carefully designed colours.
i would like to put a screenshot here but looks that’s not possible here.
Neither was anything in the sysinternals library written for Windows 11. Nothing in a ‘modern’ PC works any differently than it did in 1981. The goal is to set the window size and position in the registry. You WILL go old skool as it is a fairly low-level OS setting and they don’t let Windows users play with these.
I do not remember the name of the app or author, but you will find them in Rainmeter forums - there is a fire 'n forget app that will define desktop geometry, allowing you to run (effectively) a second desktop as a kind of ‘picture-in-picture’. When this data was important to me, I ran a number of sensors and controls from the second window. This software will work in all Windows, past present future.
