Latest update continually using 20% of CPU when not in use, more when processing sound. How to reduce not-in-use CPU usage without turning off completely?
Hi @danmenkin
Could you share us your system specs?
What antivirus are you using?
Is there any other sound software running in your machine?
Have you tried downgrading FxSound to version 1.1.27.0 to see if the issue get solved?
i just discovered that if i click the minimize icon in top right of the FX app, the CPU usage mostly goes away. But i didn’t do that before and don’t recall having such high CPU usage when not playing any sound.
Thank you for your help! I just dowloaded v. 1.26 and now when not playing sound it uses very little CPU. Since i don’t need any of the new features on upgrades, i’ll just stay with this version…I really appreciate your suggestion
Yes, this happened on my rig too. Whatever the bug is, I hope it doesn’t carry into future versions.
What was your CPU usage before the change? Mine is showing 10% on the latest version.
@bvijay were there any changes on this latest version that could lead to increases in CPU usage?
Hi James,
If you look back on this conversation, my CPU usage on new version was 20% when not in use and higher when in use. Now that i deleted new version and installed v. 1.26 it uses very little when not in use. So i am happy. But is there any way to turn off the constant pop-ups to upgrade to latest version?
Thank you for making this lovely gift available for free. Bless you!
The code changes in this version do not seem to directly impact CPU usage.
I will debug this issue.
when FxSound has an open interface, it consumes 25-30% of the CPU. If I minimize it, it consumes 1%.
So the interface display consumes the processor so much!
you have a powerful processor, if you close it, it will be 0.5%
CPU doesn’t matter, if FxSound was bugged then everyone would have this problem.
I don’t have this CPU usage issue either.
