I’m completely stuck with FxSound and have reached the point where I’ve exhausted basically every troubleshooting step I can think of.
The original problem was that FxSound would appear to launch, but no interface/window would open, and FxSound’s processing wasn’t affecting my audio. Normal audio through my headphones works perfectly.
Here’s what I’ve established:
- FxSound is installed normally.
- The executable is located at:
C:\Program Files\FxSound LLC\FxSound\FxSound.exe - Running the executable directly from Command Prompt previously caused an
FxSound.exeprocess to remain running, but no GUI appeared. - The Windows Playback Devices list contains FxSound Speakers, so the virtual playback endpoint exists.
- Normal devices such as Realtek, NVIDIA High Definition Audio, and my USB audio device work normally.
- Device Manager does not show an obvious FxSound device/error.
- There are no obvious corrupted-device errors.
- There is no FxSound service visible in
services.msc. %LOCALAPPDATA%does not contain an FxSound folder.- Event Viewer does not show an obvious FxSound crash/error.
- Registry searches produced no useful FxSound information.
- Windows system-file/integrity checks did not reveal anything obviously corrupted.
- Running the executable from CMD returned
ERRORLEVEL=0. - More recently, FxSound has progressed from launching invisibly to not appearing to start at all.
I have also already reinstalled the appropriate motherboard/Realtek audio driver, and I really don’t want to keep removing/reinstalling functioning Windows audio drivers because normal audio itself is working.
At this point I’d really appreciate help identifying what component of FxSound is failing to initialize, particularly the GUI/backend/virtual-audio processing side.
Is there a specific FxSound diagnostic/logging procedure, command-line argument, debug mode, or clean-removal procedure that can reveal why FxSound.exe isn’t initializing?
I’m happy to provide logs, screenshots, Event Viewer information, Process Monitor traces, or anything else needed.
Thanks.
