FxSound keeps crashing after hours of up time

Hi there,

I have noticed that over the last couple of days, after a few hours of up time, FxSound will crash, causing my entire system to experience errors including Firefox tabs crashing, misalignment of mouse and cursor on programmes unrelated to FxSound.

I know it is caused by FxSound because it disappears from the applications tab on Task Manager.

I get errors such as this

I have uninstalled and reinstalled but this hasn’t fixed the issue. Please can someone advise.

Maybe you have *.dmp files in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps ?

Files like a fxsound.*.dmp, copy to archive and share on a cloud or file-exchange service.

Which Windows version do you use?

Thanks for helping out, Raddy. We appreciate it.

Thanks @raddy for helping with the crash dump collection.
The crash dumps point to memcpy in EdgeTable::copyEdgeTableData. Will require further debugging.

Hi @keepscrashing,
The crash dump indicates that an exception occurred in the code when the UI is updated. I am trying to figure out the UI update that caused the crash. Did the crash happen when you tried to connect or disconnect an audio device, change preset or any other UI action on FxSound?

Hi @keepscrashing
As per my analysis the crash can be in software rendering of UI instead of using OpenGL graphics. Can you please check if OpenGL is enabled in your graphics adapter.

The crash didn’t happen during any disconnection or change, which was why it was so strange. I believe OpenGL is enabled in my graphics adapter (NVIDIA), please see screenshot below:

Yes, OpenGL seems to be enabled on your graphics adapter.
I will debug the UI rendering code path further and get back.

If this crash has generated a crashdump, can you please share it?

Sadly, I can’t find one generated for it in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps
