Voicemeeter with FxSound

I use Voicemeeter Potato for my mic and other things, I also want to use FxSound for my audio because it makes it sound better than Voicemeeter could. When i have Voicemeeter open, it makes the FxSound UI go to like 3 FPS, and the audio doesnt work. When i play Spotify, and i go to the Volume Mixer built into windows it just spazzing out, I’ll attach a .MP4 to show you guys, any help? (I just figured out i can attach .MP4’s in here so imma have to put it in a google drive and put the link here)https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Le86AsNwPiUhOXjc9A0JS8MAuPnN2hYp/view?usp=sharing

Windows version: Windows 11 Pro

FxSound Version: v1.2.6.0

have you try going to pc’s settings —>graphics—> add fxsounds.exe —> toggle optimized for windowed app under it…(idk the option’s exact name). Note: if this doesn’t help, look up multiplane overlay issues in windows remedies for your particular pc setup

it’d mention something about flipping, what might happen to you was because windows treat fxsound ui as same as a fullscreen game app… did you ever try tapping out during a fullscreen game-mode[1]and it flickered or lagged, that would be same as fxsound's fps drops that you saw

For output/input audio I think you should check sound settings panel and make sure you map fxsound for output and voicemeeter for input/mic, turn off any other unneeded devices.

  1. this will be another rabbit hole to go down some other time ↩︎

Hey, thanks for helping. I have one thing to ask, I’m pretty sure that when you open FxSound it forces the default sound device to itself. So I’m not sure what you mean

two things I mentioned, the panel lagging doesn’t really have to do with fxsound’s being your primary “virtual output”[1] but more about the window’s MPO/flip mode swapchains, refresh rates, fps, vsync, adaptive sync, gsync, etc.. rabbit black hole. unfortunately these topics consume tons of happiness and years of life, so if you wanna know more you’d have to explore the rabbit hole yourself :'/

so regarding fxsounds “forces” itself as default device, yes sir it does that.[2]
But, it doesn’t do audio input/mic processing, you can find the fxsound’s owner and dev mentioning this already in the forum—> that’s why I advise you to make sure you choose fxsound for output only, voicemeeter for input

  1. just a name for virtual sound driver, sound processing, similar category to the fker Realtek audio ↩︎

  2. explain: the reason we use fxsound is to make sound better, it gotta be the main daddy stronghold in the audio processing chain in order to cook up some ear-spa-asmr——> that’s why it is usually recommended to turn off those realtek or monitor’s audio that you don’t use for fxsound to take the wheel ↩︎
