[Feature Request] Custom Keyboard Shortcuts / Hotkey Remapping

Hi FxSound Team,

I really enjoy using FxSound! While I know we can disable all hotkeys entirely, some of the default shortcuts conflict with other software I use.

It would be great if a future update allowed us to customize keybindings or disable specific hotkeys individually rather than all at once.

Thanks for your hard work!

From Settings → General, you can change the keyboard shortcuts or disable it through Delete key,

Thanks for the response, bvijay.

However, I tried changing and deleting the shortcuts as suggested, but neither option is working. Pressed key combinations (like Ctrl + Shift + [Key]) don’t get registered, and pressing Delete or Backspace doesn’t clear/disable the shortcut either. Could you check if this is a known UI bug or if there’s another way to modify these settings?

It turns out the issue was due to permission restrictions. I was able to resolve it by running FxSound as Administrator. Once launched with admin privileges, custom keybindings registered properly.

However, pressing Delete or Backspace still doesn’t clear/disable individual shortcuts completely, but being able to remap them works as a good enough workaround for now.

Thanks !

Thanks for confirming. The delete option for keyboard shortcuts was added in version 1.2.10.0. You can install the latest beta to get this feature.

The shortcuts should change even when you run the application as standard user. If it works only in Admin mode it could probably an issue with write permission to %APPDATA%\FxSound folder.

To check the permissions you can select “%APPDATA%\FxSound” folder properties in Windows File Explorer and go to Security tab. If you don’t have write permission you can change it through Edit.

Hi bvijay,

I tested the latest beta version as recommended, and I can confirm that the shortcut deletion (Delete key) feature works properly.

However, regarding the standard user issue: I checked the %APPDATA%\FxSound folder permissions, and my account already has Full Control (All permissions allowed).

It seems the issue isn’t folder write permissions, but rather Windows Global Keyboard Hooking privileges or something else when running under a standard user process. Running the app as Administrator remains the only way modifying/deleting shortcuts works on our end.

Thanks @Dio9 for confirming.

I will look into how Windows Global Keyboard Hooking privileges prevents the hotkey settings and find a solution.
