Your work in the current beta is appreciated. This post originated as kudos but devolved.

The list of playback devices is convenient - marred only by the OS seemingly forcing the name and the description.

I can’t scrape an image of the pop-up, but for example
Headphones (WH-1000XM4)
or the more annoying
1-Sceptre Z32 (AMD High Definition Audio Device)

I don’t know and have never known how to edit that. I hate it. Here, it makes the context menu far too wide. The pop-up box itself has very wide margins.

This is not a change request. This is - Where do I edit the Windows field that contains, for example, (AMD High Definition Audio Device)?

Not sure how to edit this in Windows, but if people want it I’m sure we can figure out a way to give users the option to edit it themselves.

I can try to limit the menu width and make the device name text to display ellipses if it cannot fit the menu width.

I will read that as “I see what you mean”. Otherwise, I would feel pampered.

Yes. The menu is too wide as is. Because I cannot find a way to modify that string, I assume it is read from a DLL or perhaps an INF. I am comfortable modifying certain elements in a DLL but not an INF. I am a hacker from another time and do not know much about the matter.
