Hi;
Apologies for this obviously unintended bug on behalf of the team, and thanks for the report, I’ll make sure it gets noticed.
This is my standard list of simple settings to check first:

> [@FxSound distorts sound with PS4 wireless controller even if disabled](https://forum.fxsound.com/t/fxsound-distorts-sound-with-ps4-wireless-controller-even-if-disabled/1813/2):
>
> - Make sure you have the latest version installed, v1.1.16.0, from [fxsound.com](http://fxsound.com/);
> - Try running FxSound as Administrator;
> - In Windows Sound Settings, make sure all your devices match at the setting “24 bit 48000 Hz” (max);
> - In Windows Sound Settings, make sure the FxSound device is set as the Default Device;
> - In Windows Sound Settings, disable Exclusive Mode for all devices (Playback ànd Recording);
> - In Windows Sound Settings, disable all Enhancements including Loudness Equalization for all devices (except for FxSound which doesn’t have this tab);
> - In Windows Sound Settings, disable Hardware Acceleration;
> - In Windows Sound Settings, disable all devices you don’t use, including the hidden ones.

I usually add this tip by @vincent to that list:

> [@FxSound lowering bg apps volume](https://forum.fxsound.com/t/fxsound-lowering-bg-apps-volume/799/24):
>
> I would also recommend downloading specific software for your headset if there’s any applications on the company website. For example. I just recently got a new phillips headset and downloaded the software for it and with some tweaking I haven’t had my issue come back since then. good luck

Two suggestions you could perhaps give a careful try, by @Brock and @Dolmatov, concerning the “Default Device” settings (and yes, I am quite aware they contradict my own advice given above):

> [@How to change volume levels for different ears](https://forum.fxsound.com/t/how-to-change-volume-levels-for-different-ears/1832/3):
>
> From my experience, the only time the left right volume balance does not work, is when the ‘wrong’ speakers are selected as default.
>
> On the sound panel (\> left click on speaker icon at bottom right, \> sounds \> playback), we usually see first “Speakers – FX sound audio” balance will not work with this selected. Then below that usually something like “Speakers – Realtek High Definition Audio,” left click and select this as default, and the balance control works once more, and FX processing remains active.

> [@FxSound lowering bg apps volume](https://forum.fxsound.com/t/fxsound-lowering-bg-apps-volume/799/14):
>
> fxsound does not designate itself as a communication device, but only as the main sound device. Try assigning fxsound to both positions

**Please give these suggestions a try, and post back with your results.
If the issue persists, we can explore further steps.**
