Sometime when receiving a call I get this error message. Other times after loading Skype the system sound goes off and there is no error message whatsoever. Is there any was to fix this? Maybe a workaround until a new version is released? Right now my only fix is a restart. Thanks!

Hi David,
Welcome to the forum; sorry for your trouble.
First guesses:

- In your Windows Sound settings, did you set FxSound as the Default Device?
- Have you tried also setting the FxSound device as the Default Communications Device yet (see tip by Vijay below)?
- Did you disable Exclusive Mode and the option to decrease volume on incoming calls?

> The issue described seems to be more of a general problem with the selection of the proper sound device within the Zoom client as @bvijay mentioned already. Zoom has many technical issues users are worrying about. Even when not configured as “default communication device” in Windows (not to be confused with “default audio device”), it can be manually selected inside the Zoom clients audio settings fine (just not automatically in this case).

> Also, options on the Windows-side which often cause issues are “decrease volume on incoming call” and the “exclusive mode” (google for something like “windows sound disable exclusive mode”).

And some more configuration recommendations:

- In Windows Sound Settings, make sure all your devices match at the setting “24 bit 48000 Hz” (max);
- In Windows Sound Settings, disable all Enhancements, including Loudness Equalization, for all devices (except for FxSound which doesn’t have this tab);
- In Windows Sound Settings, disable Hardware Acceleration;
- Again in Windows Sound Settings, disable all devices you don’t use, including the hidden ones.

**Please let me know your status after checking off the above points.
If the problem persists, we will explore further options.**

I should have pointed out a couple of things:

I use Windows 11
I use a Centrance DacPort HD

So far my problems happen when the DacPort is plugged in. Maybe 1 in 10 to 1 in 15 times the errors occur. SO FAR unplugging the DacPort, receiving the call, then plugging the DacPort back in has worked. I will keep experimenting and let you know if this “fix” holds true.

Thanks for the update; yes, feel free to post again anytime if you’re still having issues.

I thought I would post this. I recently changed my av software from McAfee Livesafe to Bitdefender. Since the change I haven’t had any trouble with fxsound and skype. It has worked every time (so far).

That’s good news.
You can always just make a new post if the problem returns.
