Hi,
Do you have the Ambience and/or Surround sliders maxed out by any chance?
The Ambience slider specifically, adds what is known as “reverb” to your audio:

> Reverberation (also known as reverb), in acoustics, is a persistence of sound, after a sound is produced. Reverberation is created when a sound or signal is reflected causing numerous reflections to build up and then decay as the sound is absorbed by the surfaces of objects in the space – which could include furniture, people and air. This is most noticeable when the sound source stops but the reflections continue, their amplitude decreasing, until ...

Somewhere between 0 and 3, 4 max.
Try setting them like that; listen to the output to try and ascertain if this is the cause of the echoes or not; and report back here with your findings.
Those sliders are the first thing that comes to mind when hearing about the problem you described, so it seems best to try to eliminate them as a possible cause first.
